Surgery Scheduled

We went to the hospital today thinking we were going to be admitted, but we weren't. They said they hadn't scheduled the surgery but it would be sometime this week and Carter was on the list. He had to get another chest x-ray and his lungs looked clear. We got home and decided that Evan could come here until Carter has surgery and we told him he would see mommy and daddy tomorrow. Then the doctor called... The surgeon just called and said surgery would be tomorrow! That is good and bad, good because we want it done, bad because I wasn't expecting it. This whole thing has been a roller coaster ride. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRAY for my baby. The surgery will be between 12 - 1 in the afternoon. It will take around 2 hours, and he will have to stay in the hospital for 5 days. He will have chest tubes because of where they have to make the incision and it will effect his lungs. They will remove the chest tubes when they are sure there are not leaks in his lungs. I can't explain to you how scared I am. I know Carter is going to be fine, he is such a little fighter but its still so hard. Continue to pray for Evan because he is so sensitive, and I know he doesn't understand what is going on. I don't want him to think his mommy and daddy abandoned him. I will post in the morning to let everyone know for sure when we have to be at the hospital and what time surgery is.
Thanks again for all your prayers and support during this crazy journey.

What a precious baby and gift that Carter is, even if his little life has been O-SO eventful thus far, I'm praying for such a smooth and uneventful day tomorrow. I know he is in the Lord's hands, I know the Lord is already planning the dr's smallest movements tomorrow, I know the Lord is already providing you comfort - but I'm praying for peace that passes all understanding tomorrow and in the coming days. Lord, just help everyone to see your purpose and to feel your comforting hands around them!!!

No worries about the prayers - tons of people of praying! I can only imagine how tough this is for you. I do think it's good that the surgery was schedule quickly; just a little less time to worry. By this time tomorrow it will be behind you and you can focus on Carter healing and getting home.

I doubt Evan feels like you two abandoned him. I'm sure he misses you but I bet he knows how much you love him. Try not to beat yourself up - he will make it through with a lot less gray hair than you two!

Hang in there. God will be there with Carter tomorrow guiding the surgeon's hands.

If possible, could I get an address to send something to Carter? Thanks!

Love and prayers,
Sector Two

Gina, As I told you when you left, "You CAN do this." You can do anything through Christ who gives you strength." Lean not on your own understanding at this time but in everything acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.
God is bigger than this and His plan is to prosper you not to harm you.
Praying for you tonight as well as the Doctors that will be working with Carter tomorrow. May they have a restful night as well.
We love you dearly,
Terri, Steph, and Spencer

What great and precious gifts both of your boys are! Evan will be fine and is very confident in your love for him! (He also loves his baby brother and knows that Carter needs you.) Carter is being held up constantly in prayer, as are you. We pray peace and comfort for you and that the surgeons will be the players and follow God's gentle coaching. Take care!

I know you dont know me, but I am praying for Carter, and your whole family. We dont understand why we have to go through tribulations. Just remember to trust God, and everything will work out. I pray for knowledge for the doctors, peace for you, and remarkably quick recovery for Carter. In God's Love, Melissa(Rachels cousin)

Just coming from Sarah Smith's site where Becky posted a prayer request - please know that strangers (but family in the Lord) are praying for your precious son!
I know what you are going through is surreal - I've experienced it - although for each person it is different. The things that got me through were the Lord, prayers and faith - I'm not sure how anyone does it without even one. Hugs from Alaska! Lynora
